The Ijo Temple complex is part of the Prambanan Temple group. Formerly, this temple was a place of worship of the Shiva Muslims. Judging from his profile, most likely this temple was built in the VIII-X M century, precisely during the Medang or Mataram Hindu kingdom. In other words, this temple is more than 1000 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to other temples in the Prambanan Temple group, Ijo Temple is located on the highest plateau. Precisely on the Gumuk Ijo hill, Groyokan Hamlet, Sambirejo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman. Because it is located in an area of \u200b\u200babout 375 m above sea level, the Ijo Temple complex offers a very beautiful natural landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ijo Temple complex has 17 buildings located on 11 terraces. The main complex of the temple is on the highest terrace. There is 1 main temple with 3 pewara temples. The three pewara temples are a form of Hindu community respect for Trimurti: Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma. The three pewara temples face the main temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main temple stands on a rectangular foundation. At the entrance there is a carving of Kala Makara, in the form of a giant mouth with a dragon body as seen at the entrance to Borobudur. Right in the middle of the main temple room stands the Yoni Linga which is supported by a snake spoon. Lingga Yoni is a symbol of the union of Lord Shiva with Dewi Parwati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
