Air Manis or in the Minang dialect called ‘aia manih’ is a beach<\/a> with a wide coastline, sloping contours, and whitish brown sand. This beach<\/a> is known for its small waves and has a beautiful panorama on its northern side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the north end of this beach we can see the mounds of Mount Padang from a distance. In addition, there are two small islands, namely Pulau Pisang Kecil (banana ketek) and Pisang Besar (banana gadang) which are located not far from this beach<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides the natural panorama and the waves, this beach<\/a> cannot be separated from the Legend of Malin Kundang. No doubt, the legend of Malin Kundang is one of the most popular folklore from West Sumatra<\/a>. In fact, its popularity spread to various parts of Indonesia until it was repeatedly raised to the screen in various versions. This wisdom-filled story is often told as a parable about the importance of serving parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This legend tells of how the wrath of a parent can lead to disaster for the ungodly child. The Malin Kundang who is described as a successful migrant is told back to his village after years of wandering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
