Helloindonesia <\/strong>– Ismail Marzuki (born in Kwitang, Senen, Central Jakarta, May 11, 1914 \u2013 died in Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, May 25, 1958 at the age of 44 years) is one of the great composers of Indonesia. His name is now immortalized as an art center in Jakarta, namely Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ismail Marzuki was born and raised in Jakarta from a Betawi family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contribution to Indonesian Music<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ismail Marzuki’s most popular song is “Rayuan Pulau Kelapa” which was used as the ending song for the broadcast by TVRI during the New Order government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ismail Marzuki was awarded the honor in 1968 with the opening of Taman Ismail Marzuki, a park and cultural center in the Salemba area, central Jakarta. In 2004 he was named one of Indonesia’s national heroes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had founded the Four Friends orchestra. In addition, he is known to the public when he fills in the music in the film Terang Bulan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halo, Halo Bandung songwriter controversy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ismail Marzuki is believed by most of the Indonesian people as the creator of the famous Halo song, Halo Bandung. The song describes the spirit of the people of Bandung in the event of Bandung Ocean of Fire. However, who actually wrote the song is still debated by some Indonesians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
