Helloindonesia.id – Megalithic stones are widely scattered throughout Indonesia. Almost on every island found these rocks with various stories and shapes. In the heart of Sulawesi Island, precisely in a valley that is included in the Lore Lindu National Park area, there are giant statues that contain the history of the Napu, Besoa, and Bada tribes that used to occupy this valley. This valley is called the Bada Valley, about 145 km from Poso City or about a five hour road trip through the mountains in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. The Bada Valley, also known as the Napu Valley, has a beautiful landscape. The beautiful scenery can be seen from the vast expanse of the savanna as far as the eye can see. Plus the historical values that can be extracted from this area add to the curiosity to learn more about it.

The large statues scattered in the Bada Valley area are known as the Palindo Statues by the local community. Palindo in the local language means “The Comforter”. The naming of this statue refers to the carving of a statue that appears to be smiling. The statues in the Bada Valley are believed to date back to the 14th century. The existence of this long-standing site shows that there was once a great civilization in this region. Many researchers have come to Bada Valley to find out the whereabouts of these statues. But until now, the reason for making these statues is a mystery. Even the residents around this valley, who are descendants of the previous people, do not know at all what is rare in the land they live in.

The existence of megalithic sites in the world such as Stonehenge, Easter Island, and in the Bada Valley which is still a mystery to this day actually has very good tourism potential. This certainly invites the curiosity of tourists to find out more, especially for tourists who like history. The megalithic site in the Bada Valley is said to be the largest megalithic site in Indonesia.
