Helloindonesia.id – Hearing the culinary name of Bong Li Piang. Surely what is in your mind is that this food comes from China. But make no mistake, it turns out that this one snack comes from their own country. Precisely on the island of Bangka, Bangka Belitung.
The origin of the Bong Li Piang cake happened when the Hakka tribe originating from China, carried out massive immigration to the south including Bangka Island. Feeling suitable and able to blend in with the Indigenous people, the Hakka people began to settle down and learn the local culture.
The cultural mix between the natives and the Hakka tribe extends to the food sector. Ingredients that are easily obtained and the same taste make Bong Li Piang’s cake then created.
Made from the composition of flour, coconut milk, palm sugar, and pineapple. Bong Li Piang’s cake has a sweet and slightly savory taste. On the inside of the cake, pineapple that has been processed into jam makes this cake to taste more delicious and very fitting served with coffee or tea in the morning and evening.
The name Bong Li Piang consists of Bong li which means pineapple and Li which means cookies. This cake is one of the unique souvenirs of Bangka Island besides kemplang and shrimp paste. The price is relatively cheap ranging from Rp. 10,000 to Rp. 15,000 making this cake relatively affordable for connoisseurs of the typical archipelago cake.
