Helloindonesia.id – The Pingkan Matindas building is an art building in Manado. This building has a pair of statues of a man and a woman wearing Minahasa traditional clothes. Standing statues facing each other form a dance movement. Behind the statue there is a building that resembles a traditional house with two stairs on either side of the building.
With an area of about 3 hectares, this building is one of the buildings that functioned as a cultural center in North Sulawesi, Manado City. In addition, Pingkan Matindas is a place for art and cultural activists in Manado. This building was built on the idea of the Manado City government to support art in Minahasa land.
The name Pingkan Matindas itself is taken from two popular figures in Minahasa folklore, namely Pingkan and Matindas. The two figures were even made a statue as a symbol of the Pingkan Matindas building. The shape also resembles a Minahasa traditional house. The inside of the building is very spacious with rows of stands facing the stage. Various art forms such as dances, cultural exhibitions and theater are in this building.
The Pingkan Matindas building was damaged by a flood in 2004. However, this building which was very active in the 80s is slowly being cleaned and renovated for the advancement of arts and culture in North Sulawesi. Especially the people of Manado.
