National Children’s Day

Why Do We Celebrate National Children’s Day on July 23?

Every year on July 23, Indonesia commemorates National Children’s Day (Hari Anak Nasional) to raise awareness of the importance of child protection and rights fulfillment. This date was chosen to mark the enactment of the Child Welfare Law on July 23, 1979, later reinforced by Presidential Decree No. 44 of 1984.

National Children’s Day is more than a ceremonial event. It is a reflection of the nation’s commitment to nurturing a future generation that is healthy, intelligent, and morally strong.

National Children’s Day 2025 Theme: Great Children, Strong Indonesia

In 2025, the commemoration carries the theme:
“Great Children, Strong Indonesia toward Golden Indonesia 2045”,
with the tagline “Indonesian Children Are United”.

This theme highlights children as active participants in development—not just passive recipients. It urges every element of society to:

  • Ensure every child’s right to education and health.
  • Create safe and child-friendly environments.
  • Encourage children’s voices in matters affecting them.

Real Action for Indonesian Children

National Children’s Day can be celebrated through various positive activities, such as:

  • Educational seminars and child protection discussions.
  • Art and creativity competitions for children.
  • Strengthening the role of families and schools in shaping children’s character.

By participating actively, we are contributing to a better Indonesia, starting with today’s children.

Let’s Build a Child-Friendly Indonesia

As a great nation, Indonesia bears the moral and constitutional responsibility to protect and empower its children. This day reminds us that every child has the right to grow and develop optimally, free from violence, discrimination, and exploitation.

By building a Child-Friendly Indonesia, we are preparing for a Golden Indonesia 2045.
