Natural Beauty on Wangi Wangi Island

Helloindonesia.id – Wangi-wangi Island or local people call it Wanci Island is an island in the Wakatobi Archipelago National Park (TNKW) group, Southeast Sulawesi. This island, is the main gateway to the islands of the Wakatobi National Park, which is famous for its enchanting, rich and majestic underwater world. Wangi-wangi Island is an area of ​​Wakatobi Regency and is also the administrative center of Wakatobi Regency.

The name Wakatobi itself is an extension of the four main islands, namely Wa from Wangi-wangi, Ka from Kaledupa, To from Tomia and Bi from Binongko. The beauty of the waters of Wangi-Wangi Island is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the world. No wonder the island’s waters are a favorite place for marine tourism enthusiasts. Wangi-Wangi waters have a wealth of various types of fish and various forms of coral reefs. Some are flat, sloping, concave and shaped steep walls to form caves.

Don’t miss observing various marine biota such as turtles, plankton, seaweed, and so on directly from the boat. If you are lucky, you can join the fishermen to harvest seaweed. This is a fun activity. So don’t hesitate to ask the local fishermen for permission to include you in the activity. The inhabitants, who mostly work as fishermen, are very friendly to outsiders who visit this island. So don’t hesitate to stop here before stepping foot into the other Wakatobi clusters.

There are many adequate facilities and accommodations on this island. There are banks, hospitals, airports, schools, hotels, inns and even resorts available on this island. No wonder this island became the administrative center of Wakatobi Regency. On Wangi-wangi Island there are also tourist attractions that you should visit, including Natural Cave Tours, beaches, Toliamba Peak, Bajo Village Life and Traditional Night Markets. You can dive at several locations on the beach or relax during the day while enjoying the water of young coconuts freshly picked from the tree. In the afternoon, take the time to wait for the beauty of the sunset.

The best time to visit Wangi-Wangi Island is in April-June as well as October-December. To get to Wangi-wangi Island, you can choose a flight from Jakarta to Kendari or to Bau-bau. From Kendari, the journey continues by using a wooden ferry from Kendari Harbor to Wangi-wangi Island. You can also travel to Wangi-wangi Island by plane from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar to Matahora Airport, Wangi-wangi with a travel time of about 2 hours. However, the flight schedule must be adjusted. Because not every day there are flights to Wangi-wangi.
