Every August 8, Indonesia celebrates Indonesian Game Day (HARGAI) to honor local game creators and boost the growth of the national game industry. This celebration was officially established through Presidential Regulation No. 19 of 2024 on thdaye Acceleration of National Game Industry Development.

The day aims to encourage Indonesians to support and play local games. The government and industry players collaborate through the “Ayo HARGAI” campaign, promoting titles such as Lokapala, Paw Rumble, Epic Conquest, Selera Nusantara, and Warteg Gelora.

Indonesia is now one of Southeast Asia’s largest gaming markets, valued at USD 1.2 billion in 2024. While the potential is vast, challenges such as funding, skilled human resources, and global marketing still need to be addressed.

The first celebration in 2024 was held at Balairung Sapta Pesona, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Activities included local game tournaments, creative industry talks, and workshops for aspiring game developers.
