Aldi Mahendra Makes History as the First Indonesian Champion of World Supersport 300
Aldi Mahendra successfully clinched the World Supersport 300 title on Sunday, October 20, 2024, marking a historic moment as the first Indonesian rider to achieve this prestigious title.
Aldi, also known as Aldi Satya Mahendra, confirmed his success following Race 2 at the Jerez Circuit in Spain. In Race 1, held the day before, he finished in third place. The World Supersport 300 is part of the 2024 World Superbike Championship (WSBK), adding to the significance of this competition.
In Race 2, Aldi Mahendra crossed the finish line in sixth place. Despite this, his closest rival, Loris Veneman from the Netherlands, finished in fifth. This result allowed Aldi to add 10 points to his total, bringing him to 221 points, while Loris Veneman accumulated 200 points.
“History has been made! Aldi Satya Mahendra is the 2024 World Supersport 300 champion and the first Indonesian rider to achieve this,” stated the official WSBK announcement.
Aldi Mahendra, born in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on June 27, 2006, has been passionate about racing since childhood. His parents, Dicky Hestu and Desy Prasanti, are former national racers who inspired Aldi to pursue his dreams in the motorsport arena.
With this achievement, Aldi not only brings pride to Indonesia but also paves the way for young riders in the country to chase their aspirations on the international stage.
