Earthquake disasters followed by tsunamis in Central Sulawesi, especially Palu and Donggala, have caused hundreds of deaths. The latest data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) shows that the death toll from the disaster on Friday (28/9) that afternoon reached 832 people.

“For the temporary data, 832 people have died,” BNPB spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told reporters on Sunday (9/30).

Sutopo detailed, there were 831 dead victims found in Palu. While there were 11 fatalities in Donggala.

According to Sutopo, the number of victims is likely to continue to increase. Because, the process of searching for victims and their evacuation is still ongoing.

Today’s search process is focused on Palu. “Focus on the collapsed Roa Roa Hotel, Ramayana, Talise Beach, and Balaroa housing,” he continued.

Sutopo added, at the Roa Roa Hotel, there were probably 50 victims who had not been evacuated. “This evacuation is not easy because of constrained electricity outages, lack of heavy equipment facilities, until the access to the location is cut off,” he said. (Cuy / jpnn)
