This Salako Dayak outfit was created in such a way as to enrich the culture of the Salako Dayak and was used in traditional ceremonies of greatness.

Various kinds of characteristics of the Salako Dayak tribe

Biusuk, kapuak, candit, women’s vest, men’s vest, trousers, headband and hat and tail of Ruai bird that is the hallmark of Dayak Salako. Created by giving the fruit of the ipuh tree which is arranged one by one into beads that adorn every traditional dress of the Dayak Salako. The remaining bark fibers are used to make some decorative motifs by attaching glue to each material.

For hundreds of years the Salako Dayak ancestors used clothing made from the skin of trees. In this case, the efforts of FX. In the Netherlands, there are documents that reinforce the ancestors of the Dayak Salako tribe enshrined in a photograph.

Ceremony of the Dayak Salako Tribe

The Salako Dayak tribe has traditional ceremonies of greatness including the Samsam ceremony (Nyepi ceremony), the Baketo Ceremony, (a ceremony to take wood in the forest, to avoid danger and ask for permission from the forest authorities). Nyang Padi ceremony (custom when finished grazing and then performed with a ritual). Nanam Pabanihan Ceremony (conducted by sowing seeds in certain fields). The New Year’s Ceremony, (prayer takes the new rice). The ceremony according to FX Adam, is binding in traditional Dayak Salako law and is routinely carried out annually.

The scope of the Dayak Salako was centered in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, after experiencing the division, the Dayak Salako tribe was divided into 3 districts, among others, Sambas, Bengkayang and Singkawang. After the division, Salako Dayak covered 5 villages including Narangkogn, Pajintan, Sangokulur, Bagak sahwa, and Mayasopa.
