Named Siung Beach because of the rocks that stretch on the east and west sides of the beach. The rock is rather protruding into the sea. When viewed from a distance, the rock looks like canine apes or cloves wanara.

First discovered by rock climbing communities in 1998, this beach is relatively new. Siung Beach was officially opened in 2000. Since then, Siung Beach has been visited by tourists, both just to enjoy its natural beauty and who want to do rock climbing.

The beach with towering cliffs in the western part is indeed suitable for rock climbing activities. Rock climbing communities often use this beach for their activities. In this place even rock climbing competitions have been held, both locally and internationally. No wonder the beach is dubbed the Best Rock Climbing Site in Yogyakarta.

In this place, there are various facilities for visitors, such as food and lodging stalls. There is also a camping ground for those who like camping, pendapa, large parking lots, and lots of interesting photo spots.

Siung Beach is about 75 km from Yogyakarta, or 36 km from Wonosari, the capital of Gunungkidul Regency. Even though it takes about 2.5 hours from the center of Jogja to get to me, with the winding and up and down roads, fatigue will pay off once you get to the location.
