Gayo Traditional Horse Racing in Aceh

Helloindonesia.id – Gayo Traditional Race is held 2 (two) times each year in Central Aceh Regency, which is February to commemorate the Takengon City Anniversary and September commemorate the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary. In recent years in the Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, there has been a division of the district, namely the Regency Government. Bener Meriah and Gayo Lues Regency Government, they also hold a Gayo Traditional Horse Race contest once a year and it is these horses from 3 (three) districts that always participate in this event.

Horse racing in Takengon has been held since the Dutch colonial era, but after harvesting agricultural produce according to its history and strangely its jockey called the little jockey generally still sitting on junior high school and when riding the horse without being saddled and these horses are the result of crossing Australian horses and horses Little Gayo, that is assistance from the local government, now the Gayo horses have started to rise.

Takengon is famous for its agricultural products, Gayo coffee which is exported overseas through the port of Belawan Medan and the city of Takengon is surrounded by hills with a cooler atmosphere that is even more beautiful with the lake view of Lut Tawar Lake.
